Symptoms,Causes and treatment of kidney disease

Kidney disease also known as chronic kidney disease(CKD) is a damaged kidney that can't filter blood the way they should.

This damages causes waste or other problems to build up in the body and be harmful to our health.

Kidney disease occurs slowly over many years, often due to Diabetes or high blood pressure.

There are two kidneys in a human body, which are located on either side of the spine, just above the waist.they filters the blood 12 times per hour.waste, large water and unwanted chemicals are disposed of as urine. And when it becomes damaged,it builds up waste and fluids in our body, which causes swelling in our ankles, weakness, nusea, poor sleep and shortage of breath.and without being treated, the damages gets worse which eventually stop our kidney from functioning.

"High rate of kidney diseases, which mostly degenerate into organ failure,is likened to skyrocketing incident of high blood pressure across age group"according to some medical experts.

Statistics from the world health organisation (WHO) gathered that kidney and urinary tract infection ranked 12th on its list of major causes of deaths in sub-saharan Africa including Nigeria in the year 2012 with over one million deaths.
Million of people worldwide are suffering from this disease, whereas some needed kidney the year 2008,16500 people needed a kidney transplant in the United states.while 5000 died at the process of waiting for transplant.this shortage of donors is causing countries to place monetary value on kidney.

Importance of kidney disease

It helps in the removal of waste from the blood after digestion, muscle activity and exposure to chemicals

A healthy kidney helps keep a balance of water and minerals (calcium, sodium and potassium) in the blood.

It also helps in the production of hormones that controls other body functions, such as regulating blood pressure and producing Red blood cells.

Kidney disease may lead to,what we called"end-stage renal disease(ESRD) a situation in which the kidney fail to function normally.

symptoms of kidneys disease

Its symptoms, solely depends on the type of disease you contacted.infact you can loose up to 90 percent of of kidney functionality before being noticeable.if the disease is being caused by a bacteria infection,he or she will start developing a high fever.some of its signs include passing too much or too little urine, blood or abnormal levels of chemicals in the urine.

Kidney disease may cause several problems such as

Anaemia(lack of red blood cells, which makes you to feel tired, breathless, depressed, coldness).

Changes in the bowel habits such as constipation or diarrhea, nusea, vomiting.
Pain in the bornes,joint,muscle etc).

Loss of appetite problems with your mouth or teeth for example, bad breath and a metallic taste in the mouth.

Itchy skin.
Hair loss.
Sleeping problem.etc.

Treatment of kidney disease

Kidney disease can be treated by the use of medications, because it helps to increase the life of the kidney.

Those with acute infection, such as urinary tract infection should be treated with the use of antibiotics.

If kidney function is 10 percent lower than normal, the loss of function should be replaced by dialysis or a kidney transplant.

By Dialysis,i mean treatment for kidney failure, which removes waste and extra water from the blood by filtering it with a special membrane.
